Deja Freaking Vu

Is this the summer of '06, or '07, because I can't quite tell at the moment... Relationships ending, car problems; everything in my life right now is all too eerily familiar (although neither issue is quite as extreme as last summer). God has a funny sense of humor I've discovered, although sometimes I seem to be the only one who isn't laughing at his jokes. Maybe it's like the Bee Gees said:

"Oh but I couldn't see - that the joke was on me"

I of course, prefer the Faith No More version...

But hey, at least now I have my blog and website to keep me occupied!! Heh... Got to start shopping for that new computer, thankfully those car repairs didn't put a dent in the bank account. The ol' heart might be a little dented from recent events, but that's a story for another day...

Time to upgrade

Two summers ago I took a summer workshop on digital photography, which forced me to break down and finally buy a digital camera... Now history is repeating itself, because the internet workshop that this owes its existence to will also cause me to upgrade my home computer, which is something I've been considering (and putting off) for many years now. But, if I want to be able to enhance and manage this new website I created, my 1999 iMac w/ dialup isn't going to be enough. Heck, I don't even know if I can blog from home - I'm writing this on the far-newer Dell at the gym where I work part-time. Now I have to decide if I'm going to stick with Mac or go to Dell.com... Either way, looks like I'm about to spend some dough.

Wrapping up...

Of course the week can't end without a little stress - I thought I had a handle on this website creation, even going so far as to throw in another page before lunch today. But then upon returning from lunch, I discover that like an idiot I wasn't saving the files correctly, which resulted in some problems uploading. And THEN I find I didn't use the "http://" on the multitude of links on my Links page, so I had to fix them ALL. But now I think everything is squared away, and all I need to do is tweak the pages and add some photos of my work for the galleries; in order to do that I'll need to remove some of my drawings from their frames, which I'm not looking forward to...

Anyway, this was an interesting and fun experience, which was no doubt amplified by the presence of my two cohorts Smith and Leonard. Our antics, which made the week fly by, will no doubt become legend (at least to us).

As those Japanians say, sayonara!

HTM-Hell

My aspirations for creating a decent website are on hold at the moment as we work with this ponderously complicated html stuff. It blows my mind that average people are able to navigate through this morass and craft/maintain their own sites. I guess it's like learning any other language though, and fluency comes with time and practice. Nevertheless, something tells me that learning Japanian would be a cakewalk compared to this....

Blogging Unbelievable

I hate breaking promises to myself, even if it is necessary as a class requirement. I once vowed to never succumb to the "blogging", and I thought I would stick to that vow after my one-time-only-lapse on myspace to vent my emotional trauma and heartache. But, here I am sitting in an MU computer lab and before me on the screen is my very own blog site... Unfathomable.
